Use and Care

Your new Prizer Hood product requires the best range hood cleaning. To keep your product looking its absolute best, please follow the use and care instructions below.

 

(1) Cleaning Products:


Specific recommendations for cleaning products are detailed below.  Both “Kleen Glass” and “Stainless Steel” cleaner may be purchased from a janitorial supply store in your area or directly from Prizer Hoods.”Brite Boy” polish may be purchased through Prizer Hoods or by request from a janitorial supply house.

 

(2) Recommended Cleaning Instructions:


Brushed or Hammered Stainless, or Millennium Disk Stainless

Stainless Steel hoods should be cleaned with pre-washed flannel cloths and our recommended “Stainless Steel” cleaner. Always wipe in a manner which follows the grain. Do not clean your hood with paper towels, as scratches will occur. Cleaning cloths other than cotton flannel may also scratch the surface of the hood.

 

Mirrored, Hammered, or Brushed Copper

Copper hoods should be cleaned with pre-washed flannel cloths and “Brite Boy” metal polish.  Always wipe in a manner which follows the grain. Do not clean your hood with paper towels, as scratches will occur. Cleaning cloths other than cotton flannel may also scratch the surface of the hood.

 

Mirrored, Hammer, and Brushed Brass

Brass hoods should be cleaned with pre-washed flannel cloths and “Brite Boy” metal polish. Always wipe in a manner which follows the grain.  Do not clean your hood with paper towels, as scratches will occur. Cleaning cloths other than cotton flannel may also scratch the surface of the hood.

 

Antiquated Copper or Antiquated Brass

Antiquated Copper and Antiquated Brass hoods should be cleaned twice yearly. Use pre-washed flannel cloths and S.C. Johnson PASTE Wax available at any major home improvement store. Gently apply a small amount of paste in a circular motion using very light pressure. Rubbing too hard may result in removal of the finish.  Do not clean your hood with paper towels, as scratches will occur. Cleaning cloths other than cotton flannel may also scratch the surface of the hood.

 

Mirrored Stainless Steel or Powder Coatings

Mirrored Stainless or Powder Coated hoods should be cleaned with pre-washed flannel cloths and any spray glass cleaner. Always wipe in a manner which follows the grain.  Do not clean your hood with paper towels, as scratches will occur. Cleaning cloths other than cotton flannel may also scratch the surface of the hood.

 

Patina Verde Finish

The Patina Verde Finish should be cleaned with pre-washed flannel cloths and a mixture of “Ivory” liquid detergent and warm water. Gently wipe the surface of the hood in a blotting manner. Rinse in the same fashion.  Do not clean your hood with paper towels, as scratches will occur. Cleaning cloths other than cotton flannel may also scratch the surface of the hood. Do not use ammonia-based cleaning products or any other cleaning products containing strong chemicals or de-greasers. Do not use glass cleaner or any polishing products, as these may damage the finish.

 

(3) Hood Interiors:


Cleaning Recommendations for the Interior of Hood

All custom hoods are fitted with a brushed stainless steel liner. For cleaning, we recommend using pre-washed flannel cloths and “Stainless Steel” cleaner. Always wipe in a manner which follows the grain. Do not clean your hood with paper towels, as scratches will occur. Cleaning cloths other than cotton flannel may also scratch the surface of the hood.

 

Cleaning Recommendations for Baffle Filters & Grease Cups

Filters and Grease Cups may be cleaned by placing them in your dishwasher. The grease cups should first be cleaned of excess grease with a paper towel, then placed beside the baffle filters in your dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.  They may also be cleaned by hand with any standard dishwashing liquid.
